Massey 3095 Brakes

I recently purchased a 3095 dynashift with electrical gremlins, would only drive in low box and stuck in dynashift D. Traced it down to the two yellow wires feeding the autotronic box had corroded away, replaced the join where go down to one wire and job sorted. Took the tractor for a spin up the road and when braking hard the right hand brake let out a groan :(. Back into the workshop and fearing the worst I dropped the trumpets off expecting to find lots of metal but the discs were worn but not down to the metal. The oil that came out looked to me like it may have had some water in it as it was a bit milky, thinking this was probably the cause I decided to fit new discs and fresh oil. So replaced with two new discs fitted as per the workshop manual (I also soaked them in oil for 24h prior to fitting). I didn't replace the pistons but did the seals and I didn't replace the metal backing discs as they looked good to me. Anyway, all back together again and off down the road and now both sides are groaning .
Anyone had this before or anyone got any ideas why or what is causing it please?

It’s usually oil related as I’ve seen oil changes gets rid of the groan/squell. As you have fresh oil it’s not quite adding up!!! Have seen pistons and backing plates that have had a lot of heat and discolouring work fine afterwards therefore they shouldn’t really cause any bother.

All you can do is try it again tommorow as they will of been in the oil again over night. We hardly ever soak new discs unless you have them before starting to strip down just fit them dry, fill the backend with oil and either turn the halfshaft around manually few times or roll tractor back or forward and leave overnight. Making sure tractor does not go straight to work aswell.

I was pretty certain the oil was the cause, refilled with suto plus oil which is well within spec for the tractor. There were no marks or discolouration on the metal surfaces at all, you could see they were used but certainly not worn out or warped.
Hopefully you are right and tomorrow she will be fine, Is there any additive that can be added to stop it if not?

There used to be some anti squeal additive years ago then all SUTO 15/30 oil had the additive. Dad bought a NH backhoe that was terrible, oil change cured it straight away

Which brand oil was it??
When the brakes were done on my 7480 they were groaning.it was filled with agco branded oil then.
I changed to morrises versitrac and the groaning stopped straight away:scratchhead:

It's multi spec oil, I've always used it in the older tractors. My 3115 would have had the same oil but never had a brake noises out of it. My 7495 has always groaned just before coming to a stop, I did change the oil when I first had it and used a special specced oil for the vario. I think it was Q8 branded.

Just in case anyone's interested I took a few photos as I went along. The discs in the pictures are the old ones.

Maybe worth trying versitrac in the 7495
Its only 2 cans (£100ish)

I had oil fool me too in the 6180, always use the same oil type and make just happen to get a bad batch, changes to get a few drums of other brand and issue sorted, barrel went into lesser tractors to done.

I would try a different oil

Update on this, I let the oil out and tried a different brand but was still the same. I then put in the maximum allowable dosage of anti-squawk additive, this has helped but they are still squeaking. So do I drop the trumpets off again or will it improve with use?

Finally got the new pistons and back plates in, cost a small fortune! And it's still not right! Thinking now maybe it's the new discs, they are non genuine ones and I'm pretty sure the same supplier as the original ones I took out. Anyone else had trouble with non genuine discs giving this problem before?

don't worry about it, had similar with a 3120 it had done its breaks (only 1 side) but we put 1 piston and 2 discs in it built it up washed out, new hyd pump and that had a bit of a groan more as you were comeing to a final stop rather than just slowing down. we had to run the tractor any way and it doesn't do it now, we just forgot about it as only a few days after and it didn't do it?

also had the electric conection you have done so feel your pain finding that (ours would "fix" itself if you went over a bump for long enough)
