Dealer came out this time last year, spent an hour fiddling with his laptop then declared it was probably a spool fault, said he would price some repairs then i heard no more. If you take the end cap off to expose the chrome rod you can see it works one way but not the other, which causes the joystick to come up with an error, the rod feels like something is jamming it if you try to turn it, the other spool turns freely hence me thinking there is a broken spring or something inside.First thing to check is the simple things. Just like you would on a mechanical slice, check the couplers. These can fail and are easy and relatively cheap to swap out.
Then you get to whether the spool slice is faulty, its solenoid or indeed the joystick or switch in the cab. Best of luck with that. The easiest way is probably to get your MF dealer out with their box of tricks and dedicated box of spares specific to spool valves. Like all their specialist kits they should have the parts necessary included and when one is used up, it should be restocked and stowed in the kit box again.
I don't believe that those slices are serviceable or have parts available. I may be wrong though, so its worth checking. They are Bosch spools and like most spools are very sensitive to dirt, but more so. You will find them used by several tractor manufacturers, including CNH, and they all have the occasional failure. Not a cheap repair either but relatively little labour involved, although every hour spent adds up.Dealer came out this time last year, spent an hour fiddling with his laptop then declared it was probably a spool fault, said he would price some repairs then i heard no more.
