Massey Ferguson 390 engine

A friend of mine recently bought a tidy 2wd 390 , looking around it i noticed the engine crankcase breather has been rerouted into the inlet manifold , why would somebody do these , all the Perkins engines of that age i have seen are open crankcase breathers .

All the same I would be wary of the breather plumbed into the induction side of the engine no matter what make.

Some DBs had the rocker cover plumbed into the air cleaner from the factory however, with a breather "filter" mounted in the rocker cover, it was thought the oily mist in the air cleaner helped lubricate the inlet valve stems
