Hi,

The rev counter in my 5435 has stopped working after working intermittently. I have checked wires in the dash and all looks ok. Does anyone know where the sensor is for it? I have heard two places, not sure if either is right. First is front of the engine on the left, second is working off he hydraulic pump. Cheers Charlie

Usually on the "W" terminal of the alternator on tractors in that era. That "w" is just a tap into one of the phases of the alternator so it produces AC and the frequency matches the engine RPM. Should read some AC voltage at the alternator, but if the alternator is charging fine, then your problem is going to be the wiring, or the tachometer usually.
