An eBay auction end price and the actual selling price are often very, very different things.
I know people get there mates to bid things up and they end up being the wining bidders but you need some else to bid against. Or am I being nieve to other practises that go on? Lol

Get two pals to run it up to a high price, then hope a 'civilian' tops it. Very poor practice... but generally easily spotted. People that are so thick as to think it works are generally very greedy, too - they always take it too far. I mean, 10k for a 550? Come on!

What model of a Holder did you buy? They are a rare tractor in the UK.

Its a Holder C500 which will be big brother to the little Holder A15 I also have. Both great tractors for hill work.

Al get slated for this but a 8 speed 550 is a far better tractor than a 135 a better tractor with a decent cab for less money.

550 with that loader is rubbish , geometry is way out too far forward on the tractor due to the cab, not a patch on the 135 , have loaded tons of slurry with a 6' bucket on a 135 no problem , 550 would be on its nose, hopeless really.

Quite how MF managed to create such a cock up after the 135 is unbelievable .

Penmoel,
I'm afraid that i agree with Rs Chunk, a 550 with power steering and the gearbox spacer was way better as a loader tractor than a 135!!
Well ours was any way, father had a 135 with a 40 trip loader which was traded in for a 500 with an 80 power loader, it in turn was traded in for a 365 and 880 each step forward was viewed as being inredible both in productivity and comfort!!

How the hell we managed with 2 wheel drive loaders i have no idea!!

Maybe that gearbox spacer is the difference? We took the 80. Loader of our 550/it was useless tra for is in scraper duty now

Nearly 40 years ago j was the student governor at the local day release college, the decision was made to lease a modern tractor and loader for students to use, yes a 550 plus 80 loader, safety cab, power steering ,lovely thing to drive around the college grounds, even a radio..... In a loader tractor!!¡¡!

600 tyres on the front, it was great moving sand on tarmac, no way would it reverse j up a slurry ramp with a 6 ' slurry bucket which the old 135 did.

4wd drive on a loader tractor was and is a relevation! Brilliant MF 6455 4wd here for the last 10 years

in theory the spacer should be a good thing, but i have very seldom heard anybody say anything good about a 550

The spacer at least lets you jump in and out of the seat without getting your foot caught in the gear lever or seat. If you take the loader off the 550 I would rather sit in its cab all day than that canvas clad 135 or the even worse metal clad rattly version. Am going to duck now as am going to get shot down by the 135 appreciation club! Lol

Agreed the cab is in a different league, the 500 range were of course the MF answer to the Q cab rules which came in in 1976. So your comparing apples with pears really.

Of course by today that single door glasshouse on wheels does not compare with modern cabs, its called progress
