Massey PTO circlip housing wear,

My 6260 has the poverty spec, non shiftable/ interchangable shaft and circlip set up. Swapped the shaft today, first time for a number of years and I noticed that the circlip was quite worn so tried a new one in it, it then became apparent that the circlip groove is massive. The shaft still fits snuggly with no side to side movement but With the circlip installed, the shaft has a good 4-5mm of movement, fore and aft. Studying it closer there isn't a huge amount of metal left keeping the circlip in.

So what's the deal is it much of a job to replace the female part, clearly its only going to get worse. Tia

You have done right to replace the circlip but if the tractor ain't broke' in this instance I'd leave it. However, do make sure your implement sliding shafts are always well lubricated and free to slide. Also that any drawbar pins are the appropriate size to minimise shaking backwards and forwards.
Square balers are often culprits for this kind of wear, because they tend to move backwards and forwards with each ram stroke on level ground, wearing both the drawbar and potentially the PTO drive thrust parts.

From memory on a 3085 it isn’t a big job to change the collar part, so hopefully the 62 series is the same ?

Did the 6180 here years ago it wasnt that bad a job, 4 bolts holding the outer housing which we just replaced the lot behind that i think, dealers did anyways but it was easy enuff.
Great, I replaced the oil seal around 6000 hrs and I was hoping the rest could be replaced the same way. The last thing I want is the shaft coming out under load and damaging the splines or bearings, will take a look, thank you ?

Simple. Remove 2 of the 4 bolts and replace with 2 pieces of 12mm threaded rod screwed in hand tight until they contact the 540 gear. This will hold everything in place. remove the other 2 bolts and the housing. Your can then remove a circlip in the housing and the hub will knock out. Best replace the seal at the same time.

Petition: Temporary Ban on agricultural use of sewage cake

In order to protect our land, we’re seeking a temporary ban of the agricultural use of sewage cake until better testing and treatment of waste can be proven. We call on all farmers after this harvest to refuse to accept any more until things change.

Some research suggests that the contamination of land is far more serious than just heavy metal build ups. There is an increasing amount of micro plastics and forever chemicals appearing in sewage cake. We think testing for these when it leaves the processing plants isn’t adequate, and that processing needs to adapt to be able to remove these contaminants.
