Mayweed herbicides for a ley

Afternoon All.

Have a failed ley we direct drilled with some more grass this spring and the mayweed has bounced back pretty fast. There’s clover in there I’d like to preserve if poss but the mayweed defo needs to go as we’re going to silage it. I have some spruce (24DB) in the shed but I don’t think it’ll do enough damage, the mayweed is in flower.

Thanks.

Spruce & Triad (Spruce is pretty tame without it’s companion) is pretty well your only option ime, where there’s clover in the ley.
May be too late for effective control if it’s flowering though?:scratchhead: Presumably you’re looking at mowing as soon as you can go now(?), like everyone else, so maybe cut and then spray regrowth might be more effective?

Thanks. Well, the grass (most) failed to grow from autumn sowing and some direct drilled some more in it this spring. Thought the sheep had knackered the mayweed but since the spring drilling it’s gone mental and knew I would have to leave any spraying till the seeds were strong enough. Now they’re strong enough the mayweed is in flower.

Don’t think it’ll make silo, might be a bit strong. Hay maybe? Either that or too it and start again I suppose. Field mighty thick on one side where it’s shaded and thin in the rest. Only 5 acres so not desperate.

Have you taken any land out of production from last autumn?
