McConnell PA34 ram problem

My trusty power arm that’s been on the farm for 30+ years has a problem with the head angle ram extending past half way. It extends normally for the first half of travel then stops/slows right down for the rest of the way as if there is something binding on the head but retracts like normal.

Had the ram off which slides in and out smoothly and the head and parallel linkage all turn smoothly.

So it’s likely to be the control valve but I don’t know enough to know why. Could it be a build up of oil not returning through the valve slowing the ram right down for the final half?

Also does anyone know if this is a Kontak valve chest. No serial number left on the machine.
many thanks

No its a Walvoil SD5 spool valve and there should be a part number on it somewhere. Check the condition of the hyd pipes that connect the cylinder to the spool valve.
