Ah thanks. I thought MX was Cummins engineThe mx had the Perkins and was a bit lighter the mtx had the sub frame v
A bit more heavier duty
I thought MTX had iveco too. This one has Cummins I’m toldDidn't the MTX120 all have Iveco 6.7l engines and the CIH MX have Cummins 5.9l?
Neither had Perkins fitted.
MX CaseIh Used Cummings 5,9l engines. McCormick Mtx First series used Perkins In basicly same tractor as MX. Latter on McComick changed to FPT engines which they still usesWith a Cummins engine any good? Or load of rubbish?
Iveco and Cummins had a joint venture for a while. They produced the Cummins 6.7l Beta power engine, but afaik it was really an Iveco (FPT) engine. Don't know what part Cummins played in it.
The 5.9l in the Case MX however, was a full Cummins though.
McC only used this in the early MTX 200.
We once had an Mtx 175 with speedsequence gearbox at demo. Small display at the end of the gearchange that was able to change between the ranges without using the clutch .....awful to say the leastNo.Those are very good engines, with plenty of grunt. But as with any engine,it's all down to maintenance.
McCormicks didn't have a particularly nice gearbox.Jumpy powershifts were common as were electrical gremlins. Not specific to that model mind you.
Mx/mtx with Cummins/iveco power plant in are probably best tractors ever made in my opinion. Avoid Perkins power and speed matching gear box, apart from that they are bomb proof. With a Cummins engine any good? Or load of rubbish?
