Just to jump on this thread...
Do people castrate the male kids or leave entire?
Can goats run alongside sheep? I seem to recall there's potentially issues with parasite/ worms??
If someone was particularly mental and thinking of getting a starter herd of goats would they be able to share a paddock with the breeding tups?
Asking for a friend obviously!😉
They'll be fine with tups especially out of season. Goats have little to no worm resistance even as adults so you have to keep on top of drenching etc.

I always castrate mine because only have a few and they just all run together most of the time

All for sale if anyone is interested in a motley crew of various aged goats

If you are not already aware DEFRA now require goats to be subject to a skin test for Tb.
It was news to me when the letters arrived this morning, fortunately the goats went last year.
Another bureaucratic time burden mental health stress on livestock keepers, more work for the Tb industry, desk jockeys and vets while the wildlife vector of Tb carries on mainly unchecked.

Not a big deal, not sure there's many goats that have reacted to a skin test! Not very effective on them.
Think it's only a contiguous thing but I've had a few tests at various points. Once they rang up to tell me I needed to test my goats which at the time lived inside all year but not the cattle which graze over the hedge from the farm that had a breakdown 🤷‍♂️

Something to do with

all to do with a contiguous holding affected on closer reading. No idea who and no mention yet of having the cattle tested again, last test on 24th April clear.
How can I find out which holdings locally are shut down?
