Perhaps it is Megan who has got in with the wrong sort, her husbands uncle is a pedophile and her father in Law has 3 people to help him get dressed in the morning, at least she cannot be accused of being racist, she has married into a mixed race family, part German part Greek.
Andrew is hardly a peadophile, unless of course you count any UK citizen that has had sex with a 17 year old one, which I guess is a very high percentage, a dirty old man yes that should have known better fair enough, I thought NZ was the land of milk and honey full of happy people , the more you post the more you sound like a certain bitter and twisted Welshman that used to inhabit this forum

I didn't have any grandparents for eleven years before I got married. But if I had, I would have sought their approval. They were, by all accounts, sensible and respected - so I would have seriously considered their opinions.

Having said that, approval is not the same as permission.

I can't think of think of many decisions more important than who you will settle down with. It's worth a second opinion.

I think there's some rule where the monarch has a lot of control over the next 6(?) in line to the throne.
Which is why Harry had to have permission to marry (6th now, but only just dropped from 5th at the time) but Archie is just outside of that group (7th) but only because Louis (5th) came along to push him out of the list!
As I understand it, Meghan would not have been able to whisk him off to Canada if he was one more rung up the ladder.

Edit: And if I'm right, once the queen dies, and everybody shuffles up a place, Charles is going to have a lot of say over Archie. (Assuming Catherine doesn't push another one out!)

Constitutional stuff is complicated!!

I say old fella, you do seem to have a downer on Harry's choice of wife!! (Sorry that seems a tad personal having read it again, so apologies) However:

I still recall two young boys walking behind a coffin viewed by the world. As a citizen of the UK, and a subject of The Royal House of Windsor I have never forgotten or forgiven the monarchy or the state for that brutal act of state management of the populus.

Each to their own, I suppose. Hey ho.

As Virginia Roberts Giuffre was under the States age of consent then I would say that makes Andrew a peadophile, by using his privileged position to coerce her into having sex also makes him a rapist and yet nothing is done.
Poor Megan wants to distance herself and her husband from the firm and try to lead a more normal existence and she is vilified in the press and on social media, go figure.

Bizarrely the age of consent varies state by state in the US.

Yes it does, the age of consent in the state that they were in is 18, Virginia Roberts Giuffre was 17 at the time, therefore under the age of consent. Andrew from his position of privilege possibly thinks he is above the law, perhaps to clear his name he should go back to the US and stand trial.

The Queen holds a "crisis" meeting as her Grandson and his Wife seek a better life in another country, she then announces a period of transition, is it really any wonder Meghan wants to move?
Personally I am an avid Republican and the UK would be a better place without being beholden to the aristocracy and the privileges that go with it, however I hold no malice towards them and I wish Meghan and Harry the best of luck in their new life together.

Didn't alleged offence take place in London England (age of consent 16)?

Back to Meghan. She and Harry, but her especially, will still want to wear the badge and all the kudos that goes with it. She angled for the position she is in and a step back must be a big one and not a symbolic gesture. Good luck to both of them but having your cake etc, is not an option.

She wasn't allowed to due to security concerns, leave the poor girl alone, no wonder she wants to move to another country and take her family with her.

She's a celebrity in her own right, funny how these celebrities, actors, footballers, wags, famous people never complain when the media publishes stories they want their adoring fans to read.
