Merlo 32.6 locking pin

Hi the locking pin on a merlo is not springing back and have checked Hydraulics which are ok. Which leave a dodgy spring or a bent pin. I have taken the whole in out and taken the large nut off at the top but not sure how to get the pin and spring out.
What holds the pin in?
Thanks

They are supposed to spring back out if I remember?, but whatever way I have the flow set on mine I have to push the opposite button to let the oil back in, which suits me. Had it this way from the first week back in 2005.

I imagine the spring is broken, remove cap and undo the 19mm bolt in side. Also inspect the outside of the ram body for wear. I am able to supply an alternative to the Merlo genuine ram if it’s of interest.

Yours has had a valve fitted to stop pressure leaving ram or worse had spools tampered with. This shouldn’t be done really. All attachments should have there individual check valves. Shouldn’t pass safety inspection.

Yeah flow control valve, been on it from new & a good job. Don't have any inspections over here, yet...

Stilsons - You may be able to free it up with penetrating fluid and hitting that bolt on the end of the piston.

Mine has a grease nipple in the end cap.

Hi all, any suggestions on removing the 19mm bolt that holds in the pin, I can’t get the nut lose, the pin just rotates even in a vice?
If it has a grease nipple there is a spanner slot on the barrel if not. Tap around the cap with hammer first and clamp as tight as you can get in vice. Or impact gun is an option

If the end cap is off an air gun is best option. The pin is hardened so you will struggle to grip it. Just clamp as tight as you can in vice and gun it

Eventually got it split down. It all appears to be in good order. The pin doesn’t seem bent and the spring is ok. I am wondering did something move and the groove/slot moved from where the oil pipe was connected? Going to reassemble and see if it works

Can’t see how it’s sprung return so if pipe disconnected correctly can’t move. Unless someone has adapted the hydraulics and made it unsafe.

If it’s not maintained and the circlip that holds the pin assembly in position moves/is missing, then the whole assembly can move, with the pin still sticking out.
