Metal detecting

Don't suppose anyones after any paint (aerosols, primer, emulsion, wood preservers etc.) In return for permission to detect some land? Bought a 2k machine and unfortunately every farmer I've messaged, I've been told its either not allowed, someone is already on their land or just ignore me...I've messaged well over 100 farmers and not gained an acre. I will show you every single find, leave no holes and clean up rubbish in sight. North east area 🙂 thanks for reading.

TBH, we don't want to be " shown " a pot of Saxon gold, we ummm....errrr would like a substantial share of the value of it :ROFLMAO: . I let someone on the farm years ago, he found some nice finds unique to the property, probably of little financial value. We had a brief look at the finds, chap passed away, and his widow apparently flogged the lot on ebay. History and context lost forever. Never again.

Yeah I've heard alot of people going where they shouldn't and its killing the hobbie 😑 plenty of people are doing it purely for the money. It would be nice to find a bit gold, but it's purely the history side for me.

Picking something up that hasn't been used/touched or even looked at for thousands of years makes me wonder 😄 anyways thanks for the replies, here's my email if anybody is interested. ([email protected]) Best get searching another part of the country I guess. Happy farming 👌

@7610 super q That's very unfortunate..anything of value should be shown to the landowner, reported to a FLO (if its historical) then it'll be accessed and value given. Dont suppose you remember what he found? Curious 😄

Well, one item was a heraldic shield ( the kind that hangs on a horse harness ) belonging to the De Braose family. Another was a badge with the farm owners name on from the 18th century IIRC.

@7610 super q Ahh interesting. I'm yet to find any pendants/harnesses..I sometimes go on my dads permission in Morpeth and he gets some decent hammered coins and the odd roman. But surprisingly, his farmer let's my dad keep anything he finds. But even still, we show everything even if it's a button 😄

It amazes me how many people buy stuff before they find somewhere to use it, we've had requests for model aircraft, kiddies quad bikes, go carts even get the I've bought my daughter a pony and there's nowhere nearby to ride can we go on your land

@onthehoof I thought it was easy to gain permission, but obviously not 😄 if hawkers didnt go where they're not aloud, then maybe I'd get somewhere. I bought it to search my dads permission, which holds roman/Saxon artifacts but after 5 years of him being there, the items are becoming more scarce.
