Sodium cheap and simpleHave a couple of sodium lamps but ones given up,was going to get another sodium but is metal halide a better light?
Main one will be 35' up facing out over a 150' silage clamp, will one 400w be enough (most work will be underneath the light)?

For a small outside yard (12x12m) the following were gleened from another forum:

Any suggestions anyone?
Read somewhere that 80W LED is a 'big yard light', so presumeably a small yard would be OK with rather less?In daylight they will be fine.
10w led aren't worth sh!t.

We have a 10w led on a sensor facing where a vehicle is parked.Ideal just to find it,not trip over anything etc.I'd get 20w or bigger at least, you will be disappointed with 10w,I was.
LEDs beat MH for efficiency, but in my experience you get a lot of glare with them - especially when it's raining or you have dust on the windscreen. In foggy conditions both LEDs and MH will tend to give whiteout, whereas sodium lamps give a better glow as with the old streetlamps.Any advance on the Metal Halide vs LED debate for yards?
