MF 135 multipower

Could someone please explain in layman's terms the 135 multi power?
I have heard different variations on this subject but have never really understood the benefits and functions of the multipower, however, I think I want one anyway :)
Just seen an ad claiming his tractor mf 135 multipower has a road speed of almost 30mph, bit more than my old girl can do, any help much appreciated

Multipower is a hydraulic gear splitter that works on all ranges ,,when the lever is down its in lower range and if you were to go down hill ,,it free wheels away as the engine isnt acting as a brake ,,flip it up and the engine is then working as a brake .
Now if you working on the land ,say with a mower or a tedder ,if the pto got too much in high multi ,you knock it down to low giving you a slower forward speed
To be getting 30 mph out of a 135 you would have to be going downhill in low multi ,,a standard 3 speed box was good for 20mph .
They are only 24 inch rims which is now smaller than most big modern 4wd front wheels

The only 135 Ive driven was a 3 sp H-L box but there was a 188 multi on the farm which my dad drove ,,going from a 165 without multi to something with it he said was a god send ,,ploughing was easier when it got to a tough patch ,just drop the multi out to get the revs up again.
Dont go downhill out of multi with a trailer on ,,they are dry drum brakes and not that good at the best of times so I wouldn't rely on them at full speed .
But less gear changing is the benefit ,,just when you go from Low to high multi ,drop the revs and flick up at the same time else the sudden change is very interesting

My reason for wanting another 135 is, I have had and driven a few oldies now
and for me, the 135 is the better,I transport a lot of firewood timber at the moment
using an 802 with a trailer on the road, which is just awful to drive, my 135 is sat on a log splitter and a fe35 with a loader,if I was to have a sort out the 135 multi would be my choice I think for the road work and an extra couple of mph would be nice, hence my questions regarding the purchase of a decent 135 multi,Yeh I know I have probably got it all wrong.

Think you problem will be lack of power going up hill, and bigger problem of stopping it going down hill with a trailer load of logs, the 802 will have far better brakes and the weight to handle the trailer, with a 135 the trailer would boss the tractor

I always used to think our Super Dexta was the faster of the two here, we also had/have a 165 multi power, used to go well but when stubble burning we always hitched the chain/burning tyre onto the Super Dexta.
Have a 35X Multi Power here that I need to restore.

To the op what type of trailer are you talking about? Like Agrimax has said the 135 mp was good for about 23mph, years ago in multi size MF fleet that made it fast. I think a good one seems to pull well and are quite frugal. Mostly no power steering and the drum brakes were not great. Today you need a trailer with working brakes if over 750kg.

Radials or crossplies on the rear? If Xplies, they don't ''give'' much!
Is it just the bouncing that's the problem or does the 802 have the classic Leyland wonky steering syndrome as well?
