I wonder if anyone can help with some history? This 1505 came from a dealer in Wales , he had lost the log book and knew very little of the tractor. He thought it might have been new to Strutt and Parker Farms , who I think don't exist as an entity any more to ask? I believe it only had another main owner after them and has obviously been tidied up and had a coat of paint at some stage. I am waiting for replacement documents but they may not show anything useful or may prove to not exist....... we shall see.
Anyone know of it in the past? It needs a decent silencer exhaust pipe as it is deafening at full blast. But you just can't beat a Cat V8 rumble :)

The VW on the reg means it was registered in Chelmsford Essex. Eastern Tractors at Chelmsford dealt with Strutt & Parker Farms, so more than likely supplied by them. What is the mark on the decal on the door. Eastern tractors decals were round and came in various sizes. Would probably have had a large one each side. Depot has long gone so no history known.

That is really interesting thanks. I will take a look and see if decals are still there. I know a chap who farms near Chelmsford so I will ask him if he would know anyone who worked there.

I think that S&P had farms across East Anglia so it could well have been supplied centrally but used quite some distance away. They had a lot of land local to me which is 60 miles away

I see that it was manufactured in 1977, and first registered in 1977. Interesting that the last V5c logbook was applied for in 2005.
Presumably the log book issued at first registration was also lost, so either never been on the road or if so illegally.
Hope you eventually find out the trail of ownership, and you derive a lot of pleasure from that V8.
Out of interest were those same V8 engines used in any other tractor’s worldwide?
What/ who was that model of V8 designed for at great expense no doubt?

is that a Cat or a Perkins? They were producing the AV8 540 at that time . many were fitted in the MF 865 combines and other tractors

CAT 3208 that was really more of a worldwide industrial engine, without separate liners. Used by Steiger in some of their smaller models, and found in some White and Oliver tractors, as well as the MF 1800 series. Can’t understand MF not using the Perkins 510 and 540 V8 as they were already using in the 1150 and 1155 rigid frame tractors, and certain combines.
Ones that were local to me we’re known as screamers as they had to be up around 2,800 rpm to hang on.

The perkins or cat?
I had a v8 perk in a claas 108 which was a dog to start when cold. Unlike the merc engine 208 that replaced it.

yes a Cat 3208. 180hp region of, depending on which source you believe. I would like to know how many were sold in the UK, they were sold in decent numbers in the states but not many here wanted that big a tractor in 1977.
This one fires up instantly even when cold, it appears to not have done many hours.

Ok I have looked at rectangular label under the paint on drivers door and I think it says supplied by? xxxxxxx xxx? & Partners. Sheriff Hutton 305? A google search doesn't bring up any dealers so presumably long gone. This may have been a second hand dealer as nowhere near the Chelmsford Reg. Any clues from that name? I can't decipher second line.
