Mf 203 Front axle

Hello all,
Finally getting steering back on the tractor, presumed to be a 203 or could be 702 with 3 cyl engine. The front axle moves forward and back about 11/2" which i presume is wrong. It seems to be fixed to a sleeve which is moving in the carrier. The chamfered bolt that runs through the axle at 45 deg has been out and put back but doesnt seem to do anything. Can anyone tell me how this is all meant to fit together and work. I cant find any details on websites so not sure what bit is wrong.

That bolt will be a locator to keep the pin in there will be a notch in the pin...
You'll need some thrust washers to shim the axle back to center and probably a bush or 2 fitting

I would say the pin will need to be cut out as it could be seized in the axle

Thanks for the reply. If the bolt locks the pin to the axle ( which rust has probably done already) what stops the pin moving back and forth as is happening now. From what i can see on photos of other 203s and 702s the axle sits hard back to the rear of the carrier. Have confirmed today that the tractor is a 1960/1 702 with a replacement 3cyl perkins from 1966 or later.

There should be thrust washers I'm not an expert on the industrial setups

The pin is held solid with that bolt in the axle beam and rotates on on bushes in the axle support frame
The thrusts have worn away and now the pin is sliding in and out in the axle support bushes at a guess

As said I'm just using logic thinking from other axles industrials might be different

Thanks for that. Will see if anyone supplies them. Theres not a lot of support for industrials other than where they use agricultural parts. Maybe a red one next time!
