MF 290

We had back in the 80s a Leyland 282 synchro and a Massey 290 12 speed synchro and the Leyand box was much nicer to use even though it had 3 less gears.
well it comes down to personal choice/preference !! but the mfs have stood the test of time !!people still want them, and they had better brakes,(needed them with multipower in low)just my thoughts lol, where is the british tractor industry now??what a shame

well done!how far away from you?obviously too far to drive her?

She's home, and generally very pleased with it - forgotten how much I love the sound of a Perkins engine. Collected myself on a borrowed low trailer behind my landcover in the end.

Have spread a few tonne of fert with the spinner, and used it on the trailer when mucking the shed out. Next job will be topping the rushes, if it's not too much weight for the rear links.

Fuel gauge doesn't seem to be working, and want to get new gear knob stickers, grille badge and steering wheel boss, but everything else is fine - no plans to restore, but like to keep on top of the little bits where I can manage without professional help.

Still need to find a back window frame, glass etc. so any advice or leads on that appreciated.

Not unusual for fuel gauge to fail, it's the only thing not working on my 265

Think there is a complete back window here but getting it to you at reasonable price will be the problem

Will PM you with some contact details - might not be as difficult as you think. Many thanks.
The back window frames are discontinued but when I needed 1 there was a few showing up on MF’s parts database but the price was daft £200+! I was lucky Dobson’s had new old stock available it had been on there shelves since 1986!! So I got it for £50 - enough for some bent tube! Maybe worth a trip to your fergy dealer if they’ve been MF for a long time otherwise it’s probably worth your while chasing this 1 up
