MF 3080 PTO

Afternoon, my 1989 4wd 3080 has just started to display a couple of issues that might be related to the autotronic box under the cab, thought it worth asking on here before taking the plunge...

The PTO comes on too fast, it breaks shear bolts on the topper for example most of the time now on start up. Once or twice the PTO lever is engaged and the shaft barely turns, it creeps round, stop and re-start the tractor and it's ok.

The 4wd green light sometimes doesn't come on when starting up, stop it and start it again and its back to normal.

The tractor doesn't get a lot of use these days but I'd like to nip these in the bud if I can.

Both plastic brain related or something else?.....:nailbiting:

Probably no help, but the 3080 and 3095 I drove many years ago, both were aggressive on pto engagement.
Using a grasshopper mower meant repeated attempts, ie, engage till it bit, then disengage, then repeat till it was going fast enough to allow it to engage fully.

Maybe that's just how they are then?... It's been busting shear bolts on the topper since I bought it but does it all the time now, I could live with it every now and again.

Could be the hole is slightly worn for the shear bolt contributing to the breakages.

I had a 3060 kept chucking the 4 wheel drive on and knocking the pto off - they are on the same wiring loop,

turns out the wiring had rubbed through and was earthing out .

not sure if that helps

Sounds along the same lines... I'd like to avoid 1k bill for the ajto box. [emoji16]
