MF 399 speedshift soleniod

I've 1996 mf 399 that won't change speedshift from the hare into tortoise without a huge delay but will work the other way round. I've been told it's the solenoid or the black box it attaches to, so I've a new one here but damned if I can find where it goes on the tractor. Does anyone have a helpful picture? MF dealer printed of an exploded diagram but it looks gobbledegook in reality

Found it under the bonnet on top on the engine, I thought it would be beside the gearbox. See a couple of chafed wires so hopefully that's the problem
