MF 50b starter bypass

Anyone please? I am currently bridging the starter but would like it to start on the key again! Just wondered where the wires went so I could join them or if I can source a switch then replace it.

Assuming the gearbox to be the same as a 165,the neutral start switch is on the top in front of the gear levers but behind the bell housing.Might be different if it's a shuttle/torque transmission. Have you tested for power at the small wire on the starter solenoid with the h/l lever in neutral, while turning the key? And checked the wires are intact on the key switch? Then either find the switch and join the wires or test with a multimeter or bulb and find which terminal is live on the key switch when the key is turned to the start position. Then run a wire from that terminal directly to the small terminal on the starter.Temporarily of course. (Best test for power going to and from the switch to verify if it's at fault or if it's the wiring.)

I had a similar issue on a tractor last year, no electric supply to the starter solenoid from the ignition. I am hopeless with electrics and after getting fed up of bridging the starter and not being able to repair the fault I opted for a semi permanent bodge.

A wire off of the battery positive terminal to an inline fuse adjacent to the battery. Wire from fuse up to dashboard and to one side of a push button switch. Wire from the other side of the switch back down to the starter solenoid. When I want to start the tractor, I turn the ignition on, habitually depress the clutch and then press the button switch until the engine has caught. Probably more work than curing the fault but it works for me. This has bypassed the clutch safety switch so probably not a good idea if you have employees. One day I will get the electrics sorted, Angus.
