Recently sold a 2005 5455 with loader. Had it for last 5 years. In that time was pretty much faultless. Very capable tractor for its size.

Merchant sent a load of Fert 2 years ago and ballsed up the order so it arrived in 1,000kg bags rather 500kg. The 5455 handled them ok with a decent wiegy ton the back.

On,y sold it as upgraded to a telehandler.

Good. We have a 07 5455 with 6750 hours. just check the front axle as said already and the flywheel dampner. Minor little snags with clutch switches as well but we just bypassed the 1 on ours that gave bother.

The ones equipped with dual pumps, indicated by the blue switch on the RHS consul, give a distinct loader speed advantage compared to single pump models. The single pump has a 60lpm output [13 Imperial gallons per minute] while to twin pumps combined have 100lpm.
60 is perfectly adequate for medium size loaders but really skilled operators will appreciate the extra output available from 100lpm.

Nothing to worry about front axle as long as it is greased every 50 hours or so. Not the kingpins, but the centre pivot.
The loader really does give an advantage to thorough greasing of the pivot, because it is best done with the front of the tractor slightly off the ground, and the loader can do this. The reason is to ease pressure off the top of the bearing, which is the part most prone to wear, so that grease follows the internal channels and gets to those stressed parts it otherwise might not [get to].

There have been several models of flywheel damper fitted over the years, each more durable than the last. Fitting the very latest to an older model will require a new flywheel though, but the last of the earlier type is perfectly good.

Too much tec for a stock farm, although very nice to drive if you're doing the hours and warrant it. I'm not missing it and quite happy with my nearly 30 year old Fiat 80:90. This has an electric starter, lights and a radio. What more do you need?

Loader is a McConnel 075, axle mounted will lift nearly 2 tons and was specked for 30cwt pallets in the bad old days when we used to buy fertiliser not produce our own.

You coming for a drink tonight @Rob Holmes? Will be mostly social.

5455 are brilliant loader tractors we put a damper plate in one last year with 6000 hours never been any trouble and is worked hard

The splines had stripped in the centre stopping everything from working, the loader took a bit off getting off with having no hydraulics:rolleyes:

We cut the old damper open just for a nosey inside all the springs were broken up

The replacement damper should last a good bit longer.
The near identical one in my New Holland 8360 [TM150 equivalent] failed last year, but I changed it well before before it got to that state, at 7000 hours, thus saving splines and shaft damage if not worse.

You could of fitted washers behind that one to move it back to make good use of the unused splines!!!!!

Did you just change the damper or go the full whack and give it a new flywheel?
Im getting a bit concerned about mine got a price today for the bits not much difference between a new old damper or new flywheel and damper.
