Mf 6270

Just bought a 6270, nice clean tractor, had a wee problem after getting it where lost drive to wheels with a coupling undone in rear. A good mf mechanic got going OK with just new roll pins needed. However he says brakes needs done as well with alot of residue present, it may be expensive! Dealer I bought it off said just need liners?
I'd also like to boost power up a bit at pump, is there much difference between the 6270 and 6290, mechanic thinks I'd need pump re conditioned to get benifet of turning it up.
Had a 4360 before this, great tractor too.

We had a 6170, 80 and 90.
If I remember the 70 was 105hp and the 90 was 130,, I think when the 62 series came out the hp on all ranges was slightly more but still around 30-35 between the two.
Never did like the 6170 though, it was gutless

Depends how many hours on it have run a few 62 series loved the 6290 s had them all a wee screw at pump plenty of guts in them for it .and the engine will take a tweet pump I did my pumps and injectors up around 8000 hrs on them sadly am on 6480 s now and pumps need to be looked at a 5to 6 thousand hours now still like the tractors red to the core my 6290s left with 12 and 13000hrs never a problem with the engine never burned oil and they where putting out 175 and 176 hp at the shaft serviced regularly and good drivers on them wish I never sold them my advice take and do pump up around 8000 hrs or if it's near it won't cost that much in the bigger picture

The 6270 has the same back end as the 4 pots, 80 and 90 have a heavier back end so whilst the engine may well be up to being tweaked, the back end is more of an unknown.
It will be fine its only the castings
tweaking the pump is easy there is an adjuster under the pump top cover
6270 should be 115hp IIRC

unfortunately i think your referring to the bosch ve pump, it needs attention regardless of application from john deere, sprayers marine and even audi etc, its just a troublesome pump.

Yes I know that just saying it's a good series tractor the 62 series you could take the 70 up 20hp even 25hp no problem depends what ur doing with it do the brakes up to if you do it sooner than later you could get away with just discs but you never know to you get in there all depends on pervious drivers mine gave me get service and no silly stupid sensors on it

shouldnt be anything else fitted but there is one thing i know whatever you think is right there is always one that turns up different !!!! unless you have owned it from new you dont know what someone else has done to it . there should be a part number on a plate on the axle what is it ?

Thanks for all that folks, unfortunately have run into few problems with the 6270, it has run the roll pins in the backend holding a shaft joint. Fixed this easy enough through side but has happened a second time within a week. Have discovered play in bearings leading to crown and pinion which involves a much bigger strip. The brakes also need done and handbrake is at limit as well. All in all quite alot of work and money involved to put all right. Too much. As I've only just bought the tractor and have kept the guy I bought it off in the loop without losing the head over it, he seems to be agreeable to take tractor back and maybe do a deal on another 6280 he has at min. He also has a 6180 but am reluctant to go back too many years and believe they can be hit and miss.
Any advice on the 6280s would be appreciated, this has been a learning experience to say the least!
My mechanic who worked on the 6270 has advised to stay away from ccls models!

Not aware of a problem with ccls models, non ccls the gear can shear on the end of the hydraulic pump, had it on a 6245, not cheap but then again, not too horrendous compared to some repairs you hear of, from memory pump was about £350 and gear another £150 plus labour, filters and oil.
