MF 6485 Dyna 6 problem

Hi guys,

Looking for some help narrowing down what's causing an issue on our 6485.

It is randomly losing all drive, and error T123 displays. Doesn't seem any reliable way to "re-engage" drive, sometimes clutching and changing range will bring it back, other times have to totally turn off ignition and restart.

It happens in all different scenarios.. while baling, bale wrapping or just driving on road. The frequency that it happens increases when the weather is hot, dealer suggested uncoupling viscous fan so it runs cooler but hasn't made a difference.

Need to get to bottom of it as it's quite dangerous at times.. when pulling out of junctions etc.

It had the "black box" clutch switch fitted a few years ago to help alleviate the harsh engagement, but it happens when only the shuttle paddle is used also.

When you say calibration, are we talking the clutch engagement calibration? Checking before try it.
There would be no harm in doing that as well but I would've thought the gearbox calibration, meaning the gearshifts, would be most likely to fix the issue if any. However it may be more than that and need a dealer to look at it

Is the gearbox calibration something that can be done by myself? I've done the clutch calibration a few times so go by that.

To do the gearbox, park on a level surface and have handbrake ,air con and pto off. Then rev it to 1500 rpm and hold the shuttle leaver by the steering wheel forwards but hold it up, dont put it down how you would normally when going forwards. At the same time hold the diff lock switch on until you see the 1st and 4th gear lights flashing. Then put the shuttle into forwards, release the diff lock button and wait until the 1st and 2nd gear lights flash. The it's done. Should take 5 to 10 mins

Oh, that's the one I've done several times in the past. Always thought it was more for gear engagement (in past only ever done it when clutch becomes snatchy)

Error code T123 is listed as:

- X68 - Clutch pedal sensor, X56 - Power Control lever

-Clutch pedal potentiometer signal > 0% and BOC = 0 V

I'll do a recalibrate over weekend and see how it goes. Hard to verify because only does it when it's hot!

If it is dangerous why not get the dealership out and put his laptop on it will be a lot better than getting some one hurt with it

So we've had dealer out who did a recalibration and checked for codes, only reoccurring one is the T1 23.

Still getting no drive about 50% of time when going from neutral to forward/reverse on the paddle.

We've found a work around for time being that once you do engage as gear, as long as you don't put the paddle back into neutral position it won't bring up the error. So have to keep foot clutch down when stationary etc, total leg ache (literally) but worked for 6+ hours baling yesterday without getting error like that, then soon as pulled into yard I had to get out to open gate so stuck it in neutral and took 5 mins to get a gear again.

Dealer wants to change out entire paddle unit on steering rack....

Has the bottom of clutch pedal switch been changed?
Most of the time it's faulty when the error t123 appears.
