We had a late model 7256 for 3 seasons. When running it was a good machine. We had an auto level which was good when working properly. Keeping all the sensors happy or working was the biggest ball ache. There was always something not quite right every day which grinds you down after a while.

We were trying to put 800 acres through it which even for a new one would have been enough let alone a 10 year old. Wasn't overly sad to see it go.

One major plus was the power flow header. If well maintained then it is the best header I've used. In flat crops it is fantastic. I have a vario header now which is also good but you need to adjust it a fair bit but with the power flow it just works.

Main problems we had.

Walker was damaged by previous owner and shat itself at the end of the season also breaking the walker shaft. Obviously was blocked in previous life and walkers didn't like it.

Main hydraulic block cracked. Common problem, new one made of steel not aluminium.

Both grain lid and concave actuators needed replacing which are very expensive.

Sieve Grain loss monitor continually damaging the wiring. Infuriating ...

Final drive disintegrated, managed to get to it before it did too much damage so was repaired. This is a common problem that normally results in a new final drive being ordered. I think both had been replaced before it came to us as well. They are not cheap.

By far the worst thing was the continual sensor failure or recalibration to make the combine stay level or make the header follow the ground.

If your not pushing it too hard and are keen to go through it really well in the winter then it will be OK but they are cheaper than the competition for a reason.
