Our 8260 linkage is playing up trying to plough with it and sometimes it works fine then it decides to lift the plough out of the ground. Then it might be OK for a while then decides to drop it in full depth .the lights on the control pannel corispond with what it's doing. We've swapped the switch and checked and cleaned all the connectors and it's no better. Has enyone had this and what cured it.

How do you check wich one

Presuming you don't have a laptop with MF diagnostics. The linkage will go up and down with both sensors disconnected but you will not have draft control. If on flat steady ground you could try that just to see if it stops the unexplained lifting and lowering. The led will flash 3-1 and 3-2 because the sensors are disconnected.
If obviously better try running with just one then just the other, not an exact science due to the plough pulling on one side more than the other, bear in mind if you swing the plough over.
Another way is (but be very careful and stand back) when the plough is lifted pull down and push up on the back of the plough, turn the plough over and try the same.

Our 6480 has those symptoms and it's down to the position sensor on ours, we just unplugged it cleaned it with electrical spray and it's sorted it for now.

Could possibly be a bad connection there. On the 3000, 6100 and 6200 the position sensor comes in from the side and can give trouble if the hyd cross shaft moves from side to side. On the bigger back ends 3600 8100 and 8200 it's a different set up and don't get that problem.

Brother spent most of the day pulling plugs and checking wires.then took it out ploughing and it worked fine. I doubt it’s fixed and probably won’t work tomorrow but we will have to see

Well we swapped the position sensor with another good spare it made no difference. So we then borrowed a draught potentiometer from another tractor and it's now worked perfectly for 2 days. Will see how it goes the next few days before we buy a new part
