Help! The partner of this feeder crank spring broke last year and I haven't been able to find a replacement! Anyone got one in their old stock? MF3 1960's Riviera casilis model.

If you cannot find one,try and make one from piano wire, obtained from music shop or model aircraft, it won't be easy but better than nothing...

Thanks forblue , I have had that thought myself but I'm struggling to find piano wire supplier for 2metre length! Model shops only keep 1m stock! My best "fix" so far was to heat the old spring to soften it, then unwind sufficient to make long arm and then re-temper the spring, quenching in oil to harden it. Heaven knows if it will work?

Have you tried an MF dealer? Preferably one that has been MF for decades. You never know what might be gathering dust on the shelves. As above I don't think the MF 3 baler dates from the 60s. The 2, 3 and 4 replaced the 220, 224 and 228 and were badge engineered.
Were some of them sold in Vicon colours too? Might be worth checking the Kverneland website and the Vicon parts book.

There are companies out there who will make you any spring, for a price. I haven't used this compay for 30 years but at that time they would charge you so much for setting up the machine then so much a spring regardless of how many you wanted. I don't know if they would be so accommadating now https://www.jbsprings.co.uk/ but if it's scrap the machine or pay up you could give them a try.
