MF590 pto

Hi i have a 590 that when you engage pto it dosnt all ways work. is there any adjustment, or is some thing else wrong. any helpfull advice would be welcome

The 500 series have an absolute rubbish iPTO design which has an indirect linkage to its control valve. So if the control valve sticks at all, its pot-luck as to whether it unsticks. More than likely the appalling design of PTO brake has dug down into the metal of the clutch pack housing, causing metal filings to contaminate the oil and jam the control valve.
If you can't live with it, the whole of the transmission innards will have to be eviscerated to get at the pack and its control valve. Fun indeed!

Actually the 200 series had the same ipto design the earlier ones anyway .

The linkage can be loose too. It's behind the fuel tank, hard to gain. I had a loose roll pin on the round cover left side, tenth pic from the end on that page:

That's live pto with dual clutch, maybe ipto can have the same problem too?
