Michael Gove and the Conservatives did this.

Destroyed OSR as a reliable break crop in the U.K. while welcoming in imports grown using chemicals they banned here on the flimsiest of evidence for populist reasons. If that isn’t duplicitous then I don’t know what is.

At the next election when I go into the polling station I’ll remember this.

Well you are not wrong but I very much doubt the alternative would have done anything differently.

Who wants to grow the mucky stuff any way, is the government of the day to blame or does some of the blame sit with farmers growing the b.loody stuff to often in the rotation?? (because it was a reliable break crop!) I know we all like to blame the ban of Neonics, was /is that the real problem, I personally do not think so as they were becoming inefficient in the control of our foes!!!
Any way its worth bugger all today so why grow it??

While agreeing with you, I fear that a vote for the conservatives will be wasted this time as they have absolutely blown their brains out with their policies and behaviour.
if labour have too big a majority they will be unstopable
just as the snp and welsh labour are

too long in power is a problem for any country or council

Well I reckon with their blanket ban on onshore wind turbines and OSR destruction they’ve cost me £30k a year on a 200 acre farm. How much worse could it get?
It’s alright though. They’ll save me a couple of thousand stamp duty should I wish to buy a house. Whoo hoo!

We’ve a badger problem here. Tell me what the Conservatives will allow me to do about it. Nothing is the answer. So might as well vote for anybody else. Can’t spread manure in the autumn, can’t apply urea after end of March. Why don’t they come out with it and just say they want to ban farming rather than do it by a thousand cuts?

It’s all part of the same problem. They said they had our backs, but time after time they prove to be very unreliable friends. I can’t think of one positive thing they’ve done for farming unless you consider SFI to be farming which I dont and which looks more like throwing us 20p for a cuppa as our once great industry lies in the gutter.
Sorry, but having battled to save my OSR and now watching the plants that had looked promising keeling over due to larvae chewing their way right through the stems I’ve absolutely no patience at all with those who rule us. At every election the Tories rattle the tub and farmers run to it but no, not this time. Not this farmer.

surely the writing has been on the wall for OSR for a couple of years so why keep trying? I do agree the powers to be do not give a toss!!
