Should we follow Brian`s view that it is all the fault of western aggressive policy? Islamic state was founded in 1991 but did not come to prominence until 2014. Blair left office in 2007 and Bush in 2009. The war in Syria started in 2011. Just a few facts for you and Brian to ponder.
During a visit to NZ some years ago during the (First?) cricket world cup they were selling T-shirts printed "We support anybody who is beating Australia". There may be a touch of that in world political struggles.
Isis came to prominence due to Bush and Blair leaving power vacuums and pi$$ing lost of muslims off.

So a lot of it is western interference sadly yes.
Various middle east countries are/were run by dictatorship. But unfortunately for a reason, democracy does not work in this areas.
West removes the dictator and country goes down the terrorism route. Look at Libya.
West does try and impose its views and morals on other countrys where they really have no right to and should know it wont work.

I agree with almost all you say but would migration be worse or lower if we had not interfered on humanitarian grounds? Nobody has mentioned Somalia and Ethiopia nor have they provided an explanation for Albanian immigration. Were these our fault or down to British imperialism?

i would happily put a number up here, but they have no interest in deep rural France,
mind, I did used to give a place for New Age Travellers back in the day. Made me Mr Popular in the village 😂
Not surprising. Did this result in your persecution and the consequent need to migrate to France? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Apart from civil wars, drought and famine the horn of Africa has largely been without outside interference other than massive donations in famine relief. Talking of famine relief, do you think it helps in the long run or does it compound the problem?
With regard Italian influence, they were of course behind the Libyan regime that was toppled by Gaddafi. Gaddafi was killed by a rival faction.

My old geography teacher said simple sending food to famine areas compounds the problem.
Have to solve what's causing the famine.

Without getting into climate change discussions I believe drought and famine have been a part of life in these parts for centuries. The simple fact is there is too little food for too many people. It may be argued that there is a worldwide situation developing along those lines but the problem has not hit us yet. Should we become involved or should we take every step to simply look after ourselves?
All this moralising about keeping our noses out of the affairs of others raises more questions than answers.

Teacher thought that if you simply feed them in an area with not enough food, then next year it's a bigger problem
