The seeds of colonialism were sown a long time ago and we can't just wash our hands of it now. If we now want everyone to stay put where they are instead of coming over here, why did our nations go over there in the first place. We should have left their nations alone or now accept the history and its consequences.
A s the majority of the dingy divers are from Albania I do not recall us having much to do with them in our empire days ?

A fully charged iPhone and looks very tidy for someone escaping west🤷‍♂️

Can someone explain to me the importance of the iphone as I see it being mentioned in discussions about refugees and also people on the dole.

If you ask me HM coastguard and the navy should just pick up anyone in the channel and dump them back on the beach in Calais.
If you ask me, the lads at sniper training school should be at dovers famous white cliffs, with a command to sink all inflatables heading this way.

If word got back to the French side that this was happening, I bet they wouldn’t be so keen to come across

it might be cruel etc, but when there’s hundreds of people living on the streets, using food banks and having to decide to eat or heat, then charity begins at home, and we look after our own, before looking after others

Are you suggesting that if they had been left alone, they wouldn't be coming here now? This is nothing to do with former British vassals claiming their rights, it's a general mass migration. I'm sure they don't need a British passport to get on the dinghies in France

I very much doubt any man or woman would deliberately shoot at inflatables leaving women and children to drown.

You need serious help, you sound like a Nazi.

Those who choose to live on the streets could visit the job centre, there are thousands of posts to fill, especially since Brexit and the pound devaluing, many workers have gone back to their home countries leaving a massive labour shortage.

The NHS and 95% of abattoirs are looking for staff. If anyone wants to work in this country the jobs are there. Most living on the streets choose drugs and alcohol over work, the cost of maintaining homeless addicts to UK PLC is eye-watering. In comparison migrants often take on low paid jobs if they are successful in their applications.

I.dont recall the uk invading Albanial or many of the other countries these illegals come from, perhaps that is the problem had we gone to them a couple hundred years ago they wouldn't be in the mess they are now.

this problem, right, alright, let them all in, build on all the land? just see what happens? these people who avocate, campaign for open borders, "asylum seekers" welcome here, refugees, so, what a naive, dangerous view? What a way to destroy, create utter choos, bring down the UK to a lawless "third world country" in short order? Oh i forgot we are nearly there already?

I worked with a couple of political migrants from Sri Lanka and Eritrea. They had escaped with their lives to Britain, they could never return to their home country as they would be detained as soon as they set foot in the airport and it would mean death for their families. People felt sorry for them and told them they were safe here. The spies at the airports must have been on holiday when they went back home after a few months for family gatherings, put all their holiday snaps on facebook as well. :scratchhead:

Might not have occupied it but definitely had impact as one of my previous posts shows. With regards to it maybe not being the mess it is if it had hundreds of years of colonialism, look no further than Afghanistan and the mess that is in after those centuries of British imperialism, followed by a whole lot more of western influencing after its independence. This isn't just British by the way, many European nations left devastation after their colonial empires crumbled. Look at Haiti which became independent in 1804 but was still paying French government and slave owner debts till 1947 because of loss of income.

Yer look on google earth see how the light pollution centres round the southeast, the old argument, that theres lots of land, is a bit of a "red herring", yes if you take the total area of the UK, then divide the area developed, but but but much of that land is remote mountains, or never ever going to be suitable for any sort of large scale housing or any development?

I dont want at all defend the "british empire", but as many who are far more educated than me have said many times before, as empires go, as comparied to others in the past, and what you have now with others such as chinias occupation and growth, the so called "british empire" did far more good on balance? Also whats all this quilt complex the west has with what happened in the past by past "britians", i dont hate the germans for what they did in the war to my fathers brother, i dont hate or want compensation from the japanese for what they did to my forbears?
