Mildew in winter barley

As per title, has anyone got a mildew problem in WB.
I've got kws Orwell that's getting uncomfortably dusty. I'm tempted to spray it?
Going by the date it's crazy, but the crop and weather conditions especially point otherwise..

Yes I have mildew in w barley turned too wet to do anything about it in the autumn without making a mess.

It was -7 last night never been above freezing all day so hopefully that will keep it under control until T0.

Had a bit in our Orwell in early December, hadn't really thought much more of it as I presumed at the time, the weather would turn cold and frosty, seeing as it hasn't yet I had better have a bit of a wander through it tomorrow.

Yeah mine was fine in early December.
A few walks over Christmas gave me the bad news. There's been bugger all frost here either, and doesn't seem to be much forecast either!

@Brisel I've read before that manganese can help with mildew. Have you actually seen this in the field? How effective is it?

Or have you also (like me) just read that Mn may be helpful.

I'd actually put some manganese on with an insecticide in November.
Looks like Orwell is living up to its 3 rating for mildew!
The gamble is whether I'll get some hard frost before T0.

Winter barley crops most at risk are those grown in continuous barley rotations, deficiency in manganese is the tech term i think. . Also lighter soils more at risk?

Mildew in cassia here, not really bad but it's the most I've seen for several years. I plan to go through everything with some MN in the next few days anyway so that'll help.

Autumn treatment isn't economically viable, the mn will help and if it's still about in the spring it can be tidied up with a T0.

Edit. I've got some trial tramlines where i applied thiovit sulphur and another where I used a multi nutrient feed. It was going to be my BASIS project but I changes my mind but will be interesting to see if anything has reduced mildew.

A long time ago, I learnt that it was something to do with manganese deficiency weakening the leaf cuticle, hence pale floppy leaves, and correcting that helped reduce mildew on the outside of the leaf. Or something like that.
