Thanks Neil, will enquire about Downland.
Heygates went solely onto Trouw product last year, which wouldn't work, and could not source less than a ton of MQ(n).
Ended up with Wynnstay proper Lamlac.

Milk made 2000 here, very good machine, only drawback as previously mentioned is the milk reservoir will go cold if there are not enough lambs on it, but once they've learnt to use it coldish milk doesn't bother them anyway

I you have a Downland merchant anywhere near, their Lambforce milk powder is just rebadged Shine (from Ireland), but cheaper. I've been using it for the last 3 years and I think lambs do better on it than Lamlac (or Wynnstay's repackaged version), with fewer stomach upsets. I've always been able to get the MQ version delivered within a few days, even if it meant one of the girls driving up from Gloucestershire with ten bags in her boot one Saturday morning.:) More great service that deserves praise.(y)

yea good powder but bloody dear in our downland ,was £37 for 10kg , mvf lamblac £40ish for 20kg , seem to remember shine from sedge market was quoted same price as lamblac last year . best ring first

That sounds expensive. I've just paid £40/20kg of Lambforce, and Wynnstay is around £52/25kg for their branded Lamlac. Both MQ prices on small'ish quantities.

Just a note to say that when we were running 4 britmix machines we used to buy new rolls of 6mm windscreen washer hose from local car spares place for much less than 'proper' milk tube.
Our predecessor on the goat farm had made a fancy machine for washing pipe through but it was cheaper to replace with new.

stow agg sell shine and just been told we had it last year for bottle feeding £54.5 20kgs

I did hear from a couple of folk back home last year that the price of Shine locally had gone through the roof and they'd gone back to Lamlac. I paid £36/20kg last year, at that same time.:scratchhead:

Do Stow Ag know what a competitive price is? They never used to:censored:, but I have heard they've caught up with it a bit recently.

yea i thought so , local downland merchant lol, always a bit hot ,told me powdered milk had shot up in price and everyone would be higher this year , no increase in MVF , , that said it would flow through a machine ok , we had a couple of volac ones with removable front basins , always a hassle finding powder to go though them , , that said most of the parts in volac machines then, were washing machine parts easy and cheap to repair , are spares for the britmix ones ok to get hold of ?, often see unloved ones in local collective sales hauled out the back of sheds

I hated those blue Volac machines with the bowl on the front. So fiddly to dismantle for cleaning:banghead:, hence always insisting on a Britmix when we were hiring.

Britmix are built in an industrial estate unit in Church Stretton, Shropshire. If you ring up, you get to speak to the guy that makes them, and who knows the machines inside out. If you go and collect it, you might be an hour or two getting away, as he will talk you round every machine.:) A real gent to deal with.(y)
I think most parts, on most makes of machine, are washing machine parts. ;)
