milk sampling

Our milk buyer has changed haulage firms and since this has happened our butter fat has been jumping up and down a bit, im not saying its them its just a line of thought. Had two tests two days apart and the bf moved up 0.37 and then on other tests it will jump down the same. The tanker drivers don't dip the tank any more and have a little pot that fills when they are taking the milk. But talking to the tanker driver now he is saying they are taking two samples one from the line and the other dipping from the top of the tank. Phoned the milk buyer just to mention it to them all they said was I will look into it and that's it. Spoke to nutritionist he reckons there is no way the bf should be jumping around that much, not really sure what im asking really, just thoughts i guess.

My results jump around a fair bit. We test every day and so far this month mine could be anywhere from 4.1 to 4.6. that's auto sampling with mwd. Not saying the problem lies with that though but I can't explain it otherwise

Like to see the results from the tank sampling and in-line sampling. .
I'd hope that they use the in-line cause it more accurate rather than being to the buyers benefit.

who would you send samples to could the vets do it??
I often take samples and the NML van picks them up as he picks up the other samples from dairies. I don't want to write at length about this subject but I think farmers are very likely to be getting conned out of some large amounts of money due to poor sampling quite often leading to penalties.
I would encourage farmers to take a few samples now and then just to check, after all the person buying your milk is also the test sample taker so there is a conflict of interest, or at least a lack of interest in making sure everything is done to the farmers advantage. I am surprised milk testing isn't covered by trading standards or weights and measures.

I would have thought your old drum would have broke with all that beating but obviouslymummy bought didums a new one for christmas awwww bless!

Just pointing out there has to be a level of trust in business, and although your brand would slag conventional farmers off in a very public forum I will keep my thoughts within a smaller arena.

I've never seen the EU organic committee slagging off conventional?

I wouldn't say the organic committee slag off conventional because we're all in the same boat together but there are SOME that get all high and mighty and believe that it's the only way and get very opinionated - bit like a vegan really.

In the interest of keeping this all amicable I just want to clear up that my above statement is not true for anyone on this forum just an observation.
