Milk Vending Machine

Considering installing a milk vending machine about a mile away from the farm next to an A road. Will be pasteurising the milk for definate as while tb isn't an issue currently, don't want to build a customer base to then get tb and have to stop.

Is anyone vending milk or know of anyone who is that I could contact please? Want to visit as many as I can before committing. Feel free to pm if you'd prefer.

Thanks.

Make sure you get a bottle vending machine with the milk vending machine as they will nick milk bottles for a past time if you don't. Plus put it in a shed of some sort. I shouldn't worry about putting next to the road people like to see the farm if they come to get milk.

Have priced a bottle vender and they are big money for what they are. Do you know anyone whose got one? Vandalisation is our biggest concern, at the farm is out of the question as it's up a long drive that we don't own and everyone gets lost!

Both people I know who have a setup one started with a bottle vending, the second setup lost 900 bottles then had enough and put in a bottle vending

Make sure your pasteurise is big enough to cope at weekends you will do around triple the amount say around 200l a day then 50-70 on week days if you have a good spot that is

I'm no expert in this area but I would be checking insurance and any other regulations for selling food. Wouldn't take much for someone to claim they got sick from your milk.

Just a thought - assuming you intends to pasteurise - If you could get a couple of shops to sell your milk you would probably shift more, without the capital cost of the vending machine

Yes intending to pasteurise. Would I still be able to sell that at a premium or would it have to compete with the normal mass bottled products? That said the local post office is selling it at £1.15 a litre then £1.55 for 2 litres
