Milking shift pay?

Just wondering what the going rate for a self employed milker is? I’ve been doing shifts starting at 4am and about 4.5 - 5 hour shifts.

That’s a fair shift! £15/20/hr depending on what you do, no doubt someone will along and do it for less!

£75/milking in Hampshire for that timescale. Milking 200cows alone, doing cubicles, moving grazing fences etc.

15phr, here, breakfast included if doing the morning shift, endless tea and coffee and great banter

Needs to be at least £15/hour, that's a typical relief rate, but 4 am is a bummer hence a bit more!

Be £12hour here for that if you don’t have much responsibility.

If you're the one in charge, sorting problems and being responsible for the other milker, treating mastitis, splitting out bulling cows etc your rate should reflect that. But if its turn up and chuck cups on I wouldn't think you'd be able to get much more than minimum wage.
If you're self employed you get to charge whatever you want of course but you might price yourself out.

stacking shelves isn’t all sunshine and roses. Possibly night shifts you’d be on that but not just normal shifts. You’d also have targets to meet and be under constant review as well as dealing with the general public.

But you've got to deal with the general public, quite honestly I'd rather have the dentist weld my mouth open and do a milking with someone shocking all the cows with electric until they sh!t than deal with the twits in a supermarket for 5 minutes!
