Mis sold BT contract

Last year our BT contract ended so BT got in touch and signed us up for "BT one" using pressure selling tactics to my elderly parents, telling them that there phone line was going to be cut off as they were getting rid of copper cables and going to fibre only about a month later (hasn't happened yet) this phone line has been nothing but issues, is not fit for purpose because of the fixed point the handset needs to be in the house, which is no good for elderly people of limited mobility, roughly about a month after the landline phone was installed 2 smartphones and sim cards arrived, these are apparently part of the package, we have tried to get this contract terminated but are hitting a brick wall with BT as they say it's signed for 5 years and there's nothing we can do as it's past the cooling off period, anyone any advice ? Waiting for some more info from BT so I can go to the ombudsman about it. Ia it worth going down the legal route eventually?

As soon as I seen BT in your comment my blood started to boil 🤬.

No use to you but the amount of stress and grief I've had from the bàstards through a broadband contract that wasn't fit for purpose ,
sales are in England -
complaints are through to India 🤬.

I ended up letting the 18 month contract end which happend few weeks ago and I've binned BB and landline with them because I can not put up with them for another second they make me puke ,

Gone with Aquiss for 1/3 of the price and UK only- family based team on the helpline.

Aquiss wont be going up by RPI+ automatically next March either. (y) A refreshingly good company to deal with, where you can actually speak to somebody that will do something. I cant recommend them highly enough. :)

BT one is diabolical. Had to put up with it for a few years, the system is a pain and for some reason they decided i needed something like 9 sim cards. Eventually got out of the contract and i still get calls telling me i am in contact!!!
Whatever it takes or costs @Landrover all i can say is get rid of them ☹️

This happened to my parents. Because they had signed up online they said that there was nothing they could do to stop the contract, parents are in their 80's and had no idea what they signed up to and were being charged nearly £70 per month, it was not even fibre as they can not get fibre yet.
After being fobbed off by the call centre I eventually got through to someone at BT who actually helped.
They got the contract cancelled and set up with a similar contract that they were originally on and the price dropped to £25/month
Be persistent and if you can not get through try Ofcom they can fight your battle. Apparently if your parents agreed to a new contract over the phone BT are usually quite quick to cancel as some of the call centre folks are agressive in their sales pitch. Another avenue to explore is your MP that worked for an elderly neighbour a few years ago 1 call from the MP and the contract was cancelled.
GOOD LUCK and don't take NO for an answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will see if I can find out who I spoke to and pm the details
