I was out doing some work for a farmer recently and required some health and safety information from him, he was as proud as punch handing me this full lever arch file of health and safety that a particular company had made for him, "its all in there" he said cost him a fortune apparently, it had sat there for the last few months and he assumed that his health and safety needs where covered.
I started to go through it and I was appalled at some of the information in it, basically an insurance company made it for him and it was weighted heavily in their favour, he wasn't aware of any of the daily checks or procedures that they said were being carried out daily, there really were a couple of howlers and how the person who wrote them expected him to carry these out, he only had 3 staff plus a couple of relief milkers

I was that annoyed about it, I actually decided to write this blog,

I'm not trying to sell you anything here or say that I'm right and my stuff is perfect but please if you get these health and safety packs please read them carefully and ensure everything is correct and you are doing what you say you are doing

If you have one of these farm safety audits done, you absolutely have to act on any of the recommendations in it. If you don't, and something goes wrong, the powers that be won't use any lube.
