Mobile Dryers - How Many Acres

A 30 tonne dryer would be handy if you're using lorries as when it's dried it'll be fairly close to the lorries weight limit if emptied direct. We have a 20 tonne fully automatic electric opico and highly recommend it. You can never have too much drying capacity

24t most popular Mecmar model this year but every year are more and more in the 30-55t range. A good setup to reduce rehandling always helps. fuel efficiency and power consumption per tonne is pretty level across the board on different sized machines. It all really depends on required daily output. A few photos of different Mecmars setup this year.

Had mobile and changed to used continuous flow with simple elevators, wet hopper etc, only cost same as good second hand mobile, now have faster throughput and lower fuel use.
Mobiles good as all above have said but not the only option if on one site

Wow, some whoppers there! Like the Liebherr one with the cyclone setup.

Is the"tin hat" on the one dryer to keep the rain off, or help retain heat?

Steevo, the tin hat in this case is because the drier is in Laurencekirk and will live outside permanently. helps when there is prolonged rain to keep going. And can leave it full of dry grain.

Ye the one with the liebherr and side intake is pretty smart. Approx 5000t went through that machine this year. Surprising what you can get through a mobile if setup well. We also supplied a martin lishman pedestal system with automatic cooling. Can take it of the drier a bit quicker then too.

Dont grow any now but might again, Would definitely look for a lorry size one. Any crop a bit dodgy just run through drier and straight into lorry
