Mobile phone booster

Analog boosters, in 2018? Wouldn’t bother now. Did it probably 10+ years ago.

Seriously invest in some up to date handsets that supports native WiFi Calling, get some decent WiFi up around the place and save yourself the agro.

WiFi Calling is the muts. Analog signal boosters are by and large rubbish.

My phone is LG G5 and I can't get a reception in the house. I';m currently with virgin sim only. Not sure they support it.

If there is somebody in the household that has an EE mobile contract, they could request a Signal Box because of bad signal. As Virgin Mobile uses the EE network, that would also give you signal on your phone.

I can’t recommend a specific one but I guess they’re all much of a muchness. I know a pro mobile guy that’s sold a few and he’s says to buy from a company that will back its product up as some don’t give much support. The other point is that the old type were indeed illegal as the mobile company has to have the ability to switch them off as it does your mobile. Don’t know why but that’s the rules. The newer ones are ‘smart’ and the network can switch it off.

Don’t know if these are ‘smart’or not but the kind of gadget you want

The downside to smart boosters (purely work off the mobile network) and network operator provided femtocells (ie EE Boostbox, Vodafone SureSignal - which need an internet connection to backhaul the calls over internet) is that they still only offer you basically “spot” coverage around the booster.

Having had a stack of Vodafone SureSignal units over the years, other than their specific quirks and lack of reliability (a SureSignal thing!) they deliberately provide very low radio output power, much lower than an indoor WiFi access point and stacks lower than a good outdoor WiFi access point - is your effective range from the booster is much less than WiFi.

They are also quite expensive (especially when they die outside of warranty and VF disown them, but I digress) so you can get more bang for buck with 6 x WiFi access points than with 2 smart or femto type boosters.

Really and truly the best bet to get coverage and quality throughout a big house with thick walls, across a yard and even fields is to go WiFi - preferably a “mesh” access point type setup that’s build for easy roaming between the access points. Invest in WiFi Calling enabled handsets.
