mobile shed on skids?

Hi All,

I have a small area of about 7 acres, when we purchased this land it was split from a small yard
which they would not sell to me, it has a small barn on it and a couple of loose boxes,
and now stands fenced on its own, however i do still have use of it,i have around 100 sheep dotted around
the village, but the 7 acres are my main base as it were,i would like to have a small barm for hay ect on my own land just in case he sells the yard and im just left with pasture
My question, can i get a mobile shed on skids or such like without any planning? Thanks

Im sure there is somthing about non permanant structures, thats why you see these field shelters
on iron skids out in horse paddocks, maybe another mith
It depends on size to an extent too, but there's been more than enough cases of smaller poultry units on wheels being classed as permeant structures after the fact because they never move.

They are really tightening up on all the loopholes.

no you do not need planning for a mobile field shelter

Should your local planning officer insist that you do need planning approval, quote to them the Appeal decision reference number.

That number is;

Appeal A: APP/B1225/C/01/1057144.

They will be able to access the full appeal decision from their database and read it in full for themselves.

I know of a "mobile" shed that was built for this very purpose.
Sits on galvanised skids and only moveable with very big machinery but it is moveable therefore a mobile field shelter.

That case has particular conditions, and won't stand as a general defence for everyone. It is from 2001 and subsequent judgements have made the issue more complex.

To be covered by the above, you cannot undertake any groundwork/foundations to the land beneath. You CANNOT under any circumstances place them on a hard standing, or secure them to an anchor of any kind. They cannot have any services connected, and should be moved at least 5-6 times a year.

I wouldn't say it was best suited for storage for hay or straw with the above considerations. However if it is indeed a field shelter for livestock then you should be fine.

If you are away from the road or someone's house then planning shouldn't be a problem ?
best to at least try and do the job right before trying to get away with things and get peoples backs up
