As he has two teenage kids living with them, then I would guess a fair bit if his income gets allocated to them! Also don't know what liabilities he still has towards his first wife. So no, £30k isn't a fortune if you take into account potential other expenses. It's not down to you to change your mind about going - that's a decision he has to make. How did she find out about his debts? If she opened a statement in error - well, we could all do that. If she's searching online for info, slightly different story. But, there again, it's her farm and in the same position, I sure as heck would want to know my OH's finances as she has more to lose!

Its very interesting to see different viewpoints, either see her point about her concerns about him but also the legit concerns about her position of having a lot to lose, to the view its not her business to talk to me about their problems. Dont know what i would do in her shoes
