Something like 700,000 suckler cows and 1,100,000 dairy cows in England ? Don't know about rest of UK.

50,000 extra fat dairy bred bulls / steers will make a difference.

Or might it just be that a few suckler men turn to the dark side so there's no net effect on fat numbers ?

Crikey, that’s fairly careless journalism from the Irish Journal... I suppose it’s in their interest - or is it with so many seasonal herds themselves?

50,000 extra calves hitting the market will not have a huge effect on production and the subsequent price. The suckler herd will undoubtedly condense and any additional beef from dairy will compete against Irish beef
