This is why I very rarely have steak on a night out. Usually disapointed.
In the Scottish Farmer a few months ago John Elliott said the steak you get in a roadside diner in USA is far better than most you get in the UK. Caused a bit of a stir !
Nothing compares to the steak I had in Louiville Kentucky a few years ago

There is no reason why Scottish beef can't be the best in the world , green grass , grain ,
Management accountants run businesses, big or small, end of. Get on the wrong side of them and your history, I found this out to my cost. Big difference between a tax accountant and a management one.

Personally I think it’s because butchers trip over themselves for these muscle bound 500 kilo heifers with not enough cover on them. I genuinely find Morrison’s beef good beef but they like a good covering on them
The obvious comment there would be that Morrisons pay 20p/kg for Shorthorn and 10kg premium for other native breeds? I would agree, their beef had been good when we've had it.

Yes they pay a premium on shorthorns, I guess they had to as all the others have their own native schemes....if I was a butcher I’d be buying angus’ Galloways and shorthorns but then who wants to buy fatty meat these days....the modern day housewife can’t seem to work out that the fat can be cut off after the meat is cooked

Meat has never been leaner yet folk are fatter than ever before ! animal fat dont make you fat sugar dose.

Speaking to a bloke at work who really knows the quality meat market, said all the best butchers in 'The Toon' just used to buy fat Galloways.
 
Another reason people are fat these days is because they don’t do the physical work they used to 30years ago....no manual labour now there’s a machine to do everything
I've noticed there's a lot of pear-shaped younger blokes about. Average or narrow shoulders, flabby gut and wee legs. Often encased in a shellsuit or similar. Strikes me as the type of physique that you're likely to develop sitting on your jacksey on the X Box.
