Mounted sprayer tractor size

In my search for a SP sprayer I’ve found an ex demo mounted setup. It’s 2000l rear tank + 300l clean water and 1600l front tank. Basically with my trade in trailed I could get into this machine for about £30,000. What size tractor would you need to run this setup. We are mostly flat and minimal roadwork. Thinking the front tank when drilling would be a front weight as I currently use 1000kg which means dropping the drill to do pre-ems wouldn’t be a massive hassle as the front tank would already be on.

Thought you needed the tractor for mowing so didn't want a mounted sprayer?

Having just gone trailed from mounted, your proposed setup sounds a huge ballache to me. Would surely need a minimum160hp sized tractor pretty much dedicated to it?
Why would it be dedicated to it? How long does it take to drop the rear sprayer off? 10-15 minutes. Keep front tank on for weight and on to the next job. Even if you had to drop the front off, it wouldn't take long would it.

You'll just end up damaging the front tank, or stick it out in the road and have a car hit it.
I don't know OPs story, so will refrain.
But it's just how it looks to me.

Hooking mounted sprayers on and off puts me in foul humour. I hook it on once a year now and let it stay on. You either need to be a stick man or have arms 6 feet long to get between the wheel and the tank
If its anything like our fert spreader you back up to it to line up, drive forward a foot or so, connect up hoses, pto & cable & then back up & hitch it up. Only the top link to do then in a small gap.

I’ve got a knight 1900 litre 28 metre boom on a mf 6480 and feel it handles it well enough. It is very heavy but it is all close and doesn’t put shock onto the tractor like a heavy cultivator does. It’s a personal choice but I wouldn’t have a trailed I don’t like how much crop they knock down in the corners etc and a mounted will go much better in the wet and on un level grass fields etc.

There's another option, tell the worker to do it. At least that's what used to happen to me:(
Wasn't hard to do though, front tank was a good weight block for when you had the fert sower on the back.
If I owned the gear, I'd rather swap stuff over than buy two tractors, but I suppose it depends how much money you have.

Why are folks so against dropping off and hooking up machines?

When we had a mounted sprayer it was a ball ache to change due to it was very unbalanced and short lift arms etc but new sprayers now look pretty good to deal with and with a front linkage front tanks will be easy to deal with .

@Highashgrange if it's ex demo then get a demo of it see what it's like for yourself

How much money do you really lose with knocked down crops?

A fair bit on side slopes but it’s mainly the green that sits on the combine knife and needs smashing in with the reel that gets on my nerves and looses grain in the header. Maybe the more modern ones are better at tracking the tractor wheels now

What are the max filled weights of the front and back?

2.3 Tonnes of water on the back and 1.6 tonnes of water on the front.

What does a sprayer weigh empty 2 tonnes or am I wildly off the mark?

Front tank empty won't the the length of 1 Tonne surely?

So say 5 Tonnes on the back and 3 tonnes on the front.

A decent 100HP tractor should easily handle that, I would be more worried about the depth of the tracks you would leave if it was a bit wet under tyre?

Or you could carry similar weight on 3 axle sets of 460 (or wider) tyres, and no strain on the tractor at all, and hook off in 2mins.
I promise you, I have made less tracks this wet spring than with a previous mounted machine. But I do agree TR250s point about more crop rolled down manoeuvring in corners.

It’s possibly an age thing.
When I was younger and starting out I only had one tractor and often changed implements four or more times a day and thought nothing of it.
Now I am older I have four tractors and only change a machine every now and then and thankfull for it.

Back then My old Berthoud sprayer from 1996 took only 5-6 minutes to attach and no squeezing through tight gaps thanks to the A frame and I did it frequently. Now my trailed sprayer can be on or off in a minute and it only happens occasionally!!

Whats a 100hp tractor 5 ton maybe? you're on about adding nearly 8 ton mounted thats insane. One corner too quick and you'll be over especially with water sloshing about

The work I do it's not uncommon for unhooking and changing 6 times in a day.
