Mowing charge

That's the trouble it is only a couple acres. Take me as long to hitch mower up and travel as I will be cutting thats why I was wondering about hourly rate
Sounds like a £100-150 job then. Most contractors were £10-12/acre until fuel rocketed a few years ago then it jumped to £15 and doesnt look much hope of it dropping back. Kits jumped in price and contractors are charging what they need to pay for it. I wouldnt like to go and mow 10 acres for £150 tbh

We're not much over £10!

I've got a few hundred acres that you could do for £10/ acre.

One of the few off smallholding jobs I do from time to time is flail mow a small paddock. Under an acre.
I charge £50. It’s not worth bothering otherwise.

Far too cheap. By the time you hitch on, drive to the paddock etc, you certainly aren't covering your costs.

1/4 of a mile down the road to the neighbour. Flail is on the machine. Although it is coming off this morning and they pay promptly.
But thanks👍 I may go to £60 this year particularly as I will have to re-hitch to the Taarup.

Way too cheap.

You are putting money to the job!

Needs to be at least £14 acre.
It doesn’t need to be at least that. It would mean changing or buying an extra tractor (which I don’t really want to do yet) but I’d happily go back doing our own mowing. They bring in very good money at £14/15 acre.

Have you taken any land out of production from last autumn?
