MPH or KPH?

that is the question, do you care if the tractor has the speed in say KPH only ? and is it a legal requirement to show the speed being travelled on the public highway in miles per hour ? as the road traffic speed signs indicate?

Think most manufacturers order processes will automatically add the relevant speed reading for the market to which it is sold.

Operator should be able to choose MPH or
KMH on the dash to suit their needs.

Most application rates are no KG / ha @ kmh but still some old schoolers out there like to work in acres and mph . Each to their own .

I doubt it is a legal requirement, I've got a LHD car that still has a km/h speedo in it and it passes the MOT every year. Every truck I've driven has been in km/h also, as have the tachographs (admittedly a small sample of three trucks).

I have no preference either way, personally.

I've long been metric in everything apart from fertiliser application and the car, but even then I convert the units per acre into cwt's per acre and then to kgs/ha for the spreading. All my tractors from the early 1990's have kph speedometers and I never use mph apart from when driving cars.
If someone told me to drive at 8mph, I'd ask them "how many kph is that?" or I'd convert it quickly using my phone which has a conversion app.

I've not used Imperial apart from units/acre since the early 1980's. Metrication was done in 1970 after all! It's a crying shame that road distance and speed signs were never metricated. I mean, what's the sense in selling fuel by the litre and quoting fuel consumption in miles per gallon when litres per 100 kilometres makes so much more sense.

anyone from america comment on new vehicles from say germany both cars and tractors do they have MPH or KPH, or do they have to have by law the speed shown in MPH?

the reason i asked this question in the first place was that in the UK the traffic regulation speed limits are in max miles per hour you can go, not KPH or am i wrong? i know it has little bearingi on most farm vehicles on public roads, but more new tractors can now travel alot faster than say 20 years ago?
