MTD authorisation problem

Where do I get login code and password to authorise my new compliant program to get my VAT return to HMRC. Have tried government gateway code and password but keep getting error 403 which I am told could be wrong codes being used. I have had email from HMRC confirming I have signed up to use software to submit returns but no login codes or password.

You should apply via your HMRC account to get your account activated so that it will accept MTD compliant software returns.

When I did it back in March, I recall the activation on the HMRC side took about one week. You should receive an email from HMRC once the activation is complete. You can’t submit an MTD compliant return until this has been done.

Which email though? There is an initial “sign up complete” email then a week or so later you get another email with “activation completed”.

You can’t submit using MTD software until you receive the latter email.

If you’re still having issues, your best walking through it with the support people form Cashflow.

Thanks, that explains it only had the sign up complete email.
