My first Lambs sold

I feel a bit better now. I don't sell dw, but was thinking KO% should be higher, particularly if by a Beltex X Charollais ram. Such a cross will give away growth rate, but 'hopefully' improve carcass grade and KO% (or what's the point?).

That said, we don't know if the lambs were weighed full of wet grass?

What ewe breeds are they out of? Presumably just mules, if the Beltex X Charollais ram hasn't thrown any E's from first draw lambs at the higher end of fat spec?

OP says cheviot ewe... so id guess pure NCC.

Id guess crept-reared lambs will return 50% KO? But grass-only wont - but you should get very close to it! 47 or 48%

(have to confess i dont know the EUROP grading, or what it means when you lot post it ... my processor list my lambs as carcase weight graded 1, 2 or 3: 1 is perfect, 2 is fatter as they like and 3 is lean. I know what 1 handles like and i just draw my lambs to that)

Well second lot of lambs away price is down 50pence pk but still killed out well I think. 43 to 45 kg killed out at 18 to 19 kg still getting u3L with two r3L but they weighed in at 42kg. How much should I allow for a belly full of wet grass I think I could go 46kg when I weight them as they are in mds bire for 12 hours before kill. Any thoughts welcome
