How did anyone come up with that design of cab? Perhaps it was a DB committee.

Lack of investment, some of the parts were a carry-over from the previous non Q cab.

Even as a DB fan , I cannot say It was the best design, in fact it was an abomination, tight cramped hot, near impossible to get in or out:(

So true, and that is the later cab, the very first Q cabs had an even narrower door than that.

And that's what I was meaning about the silencer, on a Q cab it should be slightly taller than the cab roof, otherwise the noise hits the front of the metal roof and resonates inside(or so the designers said).

Looks good @MaisiesDad - I see the grill is removed ready to be jump started :p

I was thinking in the same terms as @Netherfield / @Exfarmer / @essexpete earlier today as I was getting in and out of my little 885 (with the earlier cab design) and constantly getting my foot stuck between the seat and the gear levers... I still like it though.

Also check out @Selectamatic 's thread on DBs: https://thefarmingforum.co.uk/index.php?threads/show-us-your-david-brown-tractor.249434/.
It is a fact that , big people and puritans should not buy a DB with a cab. Although Puritans can always take the hat off ;) no offence intended

I'm not really a puritan - that's a joke at my own expense - but I'm perhaps too big for the 885 at 6'3".

I've wondered about taking the cab off altogether but then also wondered if I'd regret it.
